Distinguished by its cut down rear fuselage and captivating tear drop style canopy, the XVII stands apart from its predecessors in the Seafire lineage.

Its wings, bolstered by reinforcements, have gained the capacity to bear a greater armament, with the option to deploy fuel tanks and rockets beneath. Once a prominent frontline contender until the early 1950s, it was subsequently relegated to the realm of training duties.
