Leaving the lights on when you are away is not only a fire hazard but also increases your electricity bill. Incandescent bulbs can get very hot and if not used correctly, they can cause a fire. 2. Do not use a bulb with a higher wattage than the lamp requires. All lamps come with a label or tag that tells the user how many watts the lamp can produce. Anything above this wattage can cause a fire. 3. Do not install the bulb in a flammable lampshade. The heat generated by the bulbs can melt the lampshade, such as a plastic cover, and cause a fire. 4. Do not touch the bulb after it has been on for a while. 5. Do not install the bulb in a fully enclosed fixture.
