Margaret \"Maggie\" French (1930–2023) was an original artist with many colors on her palette and a gifted musician with many strings to her lyre. With this book, her memory and life's work remain accessible. She was admired in many countries, so the book is available in both Swedish and English. Her husband and life partner of more than 50 years, Erik-Gustaf Brilioth, has edited the book and is responsible for the richly illustrated biography and explanatory texts. Three friends discuss Maggie's art – Stefan Nilson (art critic), Lis-Vibeke Kristensen (author and theater director), and Per Svenson (author). The book features over 200 images of Maggie's art in many genres, divided into five themes: World and Society: In figurative works, Maggie views the world with a loving and critical eye. Fragments and Brushstrokes: In her strong abstract acrylic paintings, Maggie still tells a story. Graphics: Many works by a dedicated graphic artist with strong expressive colors and an never-ending imagination. Sculpture and 3D: Maggie built, assembled, and invented works in various materials, often with social criticism. Maggie's Musicians: Music is in everything Maggie did – often in accurate sketches of musicians and music. The book MARGARET FRENCH – an artist's life (150 pages, hardcover) will be released in September, costs 350 SEK + postage and can be purchased directly from the publisher FAB TEXT BILD & MUSIK or in bookstores and online.
