SOLD PER METER - QUANTITY 1 = 1 METER. We love to use our 40mm hemp rope for a variety of applications; it's perfect for use as traditional sailing rope, as garden decking rope, for treehouses, construction rope, or rope swings and ladders and so much more. Don't just take our word for it. Hemp has been the preferred rope for generations, with civilizations as far back as 8-10,000 BC (in China) showing evidence of hemp rope use. The Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Vikings, and Royal Navy have all relied on hemp's strength and durability as a rope material, and we believe it is still the outstanding choice today for anyone looking for a high-quality, long-lasting natural rope. It's also an environmentally conscious choice. Our rope is manufactured in the EU to the highest quality standards for organic farming practices and is naturally biodegradable. It requires less water than alternative natural materials and requires absolutely no pesticides, herbicides, or chemical fertilizers in its production, unlike cotton which accounts for a large proportion of global agrochemicals. Synthetic ropes have the additional problem of releasing microparticles into the environment that can persist for hundreds of years, but this is not an issue with hemp. As if that weren't enough, hemp is a natural carbon sink, meaning it is brilliant at capturing CO2 from the atmosphere and sequestering it, and can grow in soil where other crops cannot, while leaving the soil better and more fertile than the day it was planted. Aroma Please note that hemp rope can have a strong and distinct natural scent when it first arrives. Some have described it as similar to hay or flour sacks. While this scent almost disappears after a few months of use, a certain unique scent may remain noticeable throughout the rope's entire lifespan. The scent only becomes more pleasant over time, while also becoming weaker. After a while, the less pleasant notes disappear, and you will have a sweet and natural hay-like scent from your hemp rope.
