Sintered by heat into ceramic, cartridges made from the material are considered durable with a compressive strength of at least 2,000 megapascals (MPa) and are said to have almost the same toughness as a diamond with a hardness of up to 19 gigapascals (GPa). It is less prone to corrosion and can last longer than cartridges made from other material. Another characteristic of alumina ceramic is its ability to slide, which is practical for a ceramic disc mixer. Two discs are used in such a mixer mechanism. The top disc moves when the mixer is turned on and off while the bottom disc remains static. The discs slide to align or misalign, which acts as a gateway to open or obstruct the flow of water. Check out other Kerox cartridges we provide. Features of Kerox K-35B Mixer Cartridge The KEROX K-35B is a 35mm single-lever cartridge composed of Al2O3 engineered ceramic. It has a surface roughness of 0.2 micrometers and a contact surface of 50 to 80 percent. It opens at a 25-degree angle with a maximum mixing angle of 90 degrees. The highest temperature that can be achieved with this cartridge is 90 ℃ (194 ℉). The flow rate allowed by the K-35B is from 20.1 liters per minute up to 26 liters per minute. Accessing and Replacing a K-35B Cartridge The single-lever cartridge sits in a manual lever mixer. To repair the mixer, first turn off the water supply and lift the mixer handle to the on position to prevent the seals of the replacement from being stressed. 1: Remove the mixer handle by using an Allen key to loosen the grub screw. 2: Remove the shroud by hand with a counter-clockwise twist. 3: Remove the brass collar holding the cartridge secure using an appropriately sized spanner. The cartridge should pull out with ease. 4: Apply appropriate silicone grease to the O-rings of the new cartridge. Wiggle the new cartridge into the valve until it is fully seated. 5: Reassemble and tighten the collar, shroud, and handle.
