General information about blood pressure:
Blood pressure is the force with which the bloodstream pushes against the walls of the arteries. Arterial blood pressure changes constantly over the course of a cardiac cycle.
Blood pressure is always given in the form of two values:
The highest pressure in the cycle is called the systolic blood pressure. It occurs when the heart muscle contracts, forcing blood into the vessels.
The lowest is the diastolic blood pressure, which is when the heart muscle has fully expanded and the heart is filling with blood.
Fluctuations in blood pressure are normal. Even with a repeat measurement, significant differences between the measured values ​​can occur. One-off or irregular measurements therefore do not provide any reliable information about the actual blood pressure. A reliable assessment is only possible if you measure regularly under comparable conditions .
